Pampanga holds ‘Bike for a Cause’ for 44 Fallen SAF troopers

bike3CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — At least 600 members of Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail and Penology-Region 3 (BJMP3) and civilian bikers on Tuesday joined the “Bike for a Cause” for the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers who were killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao during an encounter with Moro Islamic Liberation Front last January 25.

Chief Superintendent Ronald Santos, Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3) officer-in-charge led the “Bike for a Cause,” which started at 5 a.m.

Chief Inspector Chery Lou Donato, Regional Public Information (RPIO) officer, said that those who participated include policemen from different provincial and city police offices, personnel of the PRO3 and BJMP3 and civilian bike enthusiasts headed by the Pampanga Delta Bikers.

The bikers assembled in front of the PRO3 parade ground passed through their route in the towns of Sto. Tomas, San Simon, Apalit, Macabebe and Masantol.

Donato said a short program was held in front of the St. Michael Parish Church in Masantol town before traversing back to Camp Olivas for their final lap.

In his message, Santos said the 44 kilometers bike route signified the 44 gallant SAF troopers.

Santos said the funds generated from the activity will be given to the bereaved families.

He said the father of the slain Police Officer 2 Nicky Nacino, a resident of San Luis, Aurora and the wife of the late Police Officer-3 John Lloyd Sumbilla of Morong, Bataan, were present during the event. (PNA)
