7 Arrested in Baler Shabu Tiangge

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABALER, Aurora-A “shabu tiangge” here was raided by Baler Philippine National Police (PNP) in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Sitio Dupax, Brgy. Suklayin, Baler, Aurora, resulting in the arrest of two (2) drug pushers and their five (5) cohort accessories at around 2:00 in the morning, Friday, the police said.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAccording to Police Inspector Robert Ramos Prado, Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Baler PNP, authorities arrested Michael John Manalastas Y’ Fernando, 35, and a resident of Brgy. Bukana, Santo Niño, Gapan City, Ezer Fernando Y’ Dimalanta, 28, and a resident of Daang Bakal, Sto. Niño, Gapan City during a buy-bust operation in the said place while the rest were their cohorts in their illegal drug activities identified as Maria Lourdes Cabling Y’ Fernando, 26, Joseph Manalastas Y’ Fernando, 34, married, Joseph Mercado Y’ Alejandria, 30, all of Gapan City, Nueva Ecija; Ferdinand Ramos Y’ Ison, 47 of Brgy. Marawa, Jaen, Nueva Ecija and Teresita Fernando Y’ Rivera, the shanty’s owner.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPrado said a total of two medium sized sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) were seized from the suspects by police worth P36,000.00, five pieces of 100 peso bill dusted marked money, 1,000 peso boodle money, a small heat sealed shabu from Ezer, a cohorts illegal drug peddler of John Manalastas, .9MM caliber norinco model NP20 PARA with serial number 99800404 inserted with metallic magazine loaded with nine (9) cartridge, four (4) sparse cartridge of .9MM, peso bills in different denomination worth P2,310 proceeds of their illegal drugs selling and electronic portable shabu weighing scale machine.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHe also said that searching was conducted in the presence of suspects and witnesses and discovered sorts of suspected illegal drug paraphernalia such as improvised burners, used and unused aluminum foils designed for using illegal drugs and several lighter.

“The presence of the said paraphernalia was an indicative of probable cause to believe that the place was used as illegal drug den,” Prado furthered.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPrado said the operation was conducted following a week-long surveillance, noting that their investigation started following complaints from citizens over the alleged rampant selling and use of illegal drugs in the area.

He also commended the operatives for the success of the operation.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe policemen conducted an inventory of the seized shabu, drug paraphernalia and other deadly weapons in the presence of media, Department of Justice Jun Julio, barangay councilman Tristan Quijano, suspects and witnesses.

A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and R.A. 10594 were already readied for filing before the Office of the Aurora Provincial Prosecutor on monday in this municipality. (Jason de Asis)
